Katherine Lambert Hamilton

Katherine Lambert Hamilton, 89, of Gabbettville, Georgia, died on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at the Florence Hand Nursing Home in LaGrange, Georgia.

Mrs. Hamilton was born in 1931 to the late Charles Benjamin Lambert and Martha Lillian Emory Lambert of Gabbettville, Georgia.

She was a graduate of Center Elementary School. She then attended Berry College, majoring in Home Economics, and LaGrange College majoring in Elementary Education. She was a seamstress for 26 years, and later taught kindergarten at Rosemont Elementary School and Mountville Elementary School.

While studying at Berry College, she met William Owen Hamilton of Cohutta, Georgia, and they married in August of 1952. They celebrated 58 years of marriage.

Mrs. Hamilton is preceded in death by her loving husband, Bill Hamilton; her daughter, Carol Elizabeth Shipley; her son-in-law, John Blake Bradley; her sisters, Eleanor Ann Miller and Nancy Lillian McClendon; and her brothers, Asa Clay Lambert and William Arthur Lambert.

She is survived by her children, Kay Hamilton Bradley, and Owen DeWitt Hamilton; grandchildren, Christy M. Willingham, Kacy Galloway (Troy), Amanda Howell (Michael), and John William Hamilton (Amanda); great grandchildren, Will Hamilton, Brent Hamilton, Easton Hamilton, Savanna Galloway, Blake Hubbard, Braylon Lorac Davis, Lillian Howell, and Katherine Howell; and her sister, Mary Charles Lambert Traynham.

Due to public health concerns, the family will have visitation on Monday, May 25, 2020 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the chapel entrance of Hunter Allen Myhand Fuenral Home with the legal number of people in the facility at a time as mandated by the State of Georgia. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at 10:00 AM at the Long Cane Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Children’s Book donations may be made in Mrs. Hamilton’s memory at Hunter Allen Myhand Funeral Home, at the graveside service, or to Berry College Elementary School, Rome, Georgia.
