Mrs. Arletta Barker

Mrs. Arletta Barker, of LaGrange, passed away on July 11, 2020. Mrs. Barker was born in Shreveport, Louisiana to the late George L. Pack and Belle Reichle Pack on August 6, 1929. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Eddie Barker; daughter, Ingrid Rebecca Barker; brother, James Pack.


Arletta Barker was a devout member of her church, serving as a delegate to the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church and an active member of the choir for many years. Her devotion to the arts showed in her enthusiasm for and patronage of artists in her community and those she came across during her world travels. During these travels, Arletta was able to satisfy her love of culture and share that love and sense of discovery with her family and friends. The world is richer for having her in it. 


Survivors include her daughters, Connie Lynn Barker Hill (Luke) and Bambi Christine Barker Parham; sister, Mary Rose Thompson (Kenneth); grandchildren, Jason Hill (Mandy), Audra Hill, Rebecca Hill Ferguson (David), John Parham IV (Jennifer) and Ellen Parham; great grandchildren, Alle Strickland, Luke Hill, Audrey Hill, Anna Frances Hill, Cooper Thornhill, Cannon Parham, Dutch Parham and Dupree Parham; extended family.


Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at 10:00 am at the Antioch Baptist Church in Heard County with Rev. Kathie Stasco officiating. Family will assemble at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to the music department of Cumming First United Methodist Church in Arletta’s memory.
